Based in Langholm, Dumfries & Galloway, Solway Ecology offers a wide range of ecological consultancy services across Scotland and Northern England.
Director and Principal Ecologist, Malcolm Ginns BSc (Hons) MSc MCIEEM, has worked in the ecological consultancy sector for many years and is particularly interested in protected species and ornithology. He holds NatureScot protected species survey licences for otter, great crested newt, Natterjack toad and all bird species listed on Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981 (as amended).
The business has a number of associates who provide additional expertise, for example licensed bat workers, botanists and freshwater biologists. To date, Solway Ecology has delivered a wide range of ecological projects including the ecological assessments for the high profile holiday lodge and tourism infrastructure development at Forestry Commission Scotland’s Glentress site, near Peebles in the Scottish Borders.
The broad depth of experience possessed by Solway Ecology and our associates enables us to look at projects from a range of ecological, economic and social perspectives to provide clients with real-world solutions whilst protecting vulnerable flora and fauna.
